Case update ASIC v geary fraud barrister

Case Update: ASIC v Geary

There has been a case update for ASIC v Geary. Appeal by ASIC against former officer of the Australian Wheat Board (AWB) has been dismissed.

The case was brought about Flugge and Geary in 2015 in relation to payments to the Iraqi government. The payments were said to be referable to “inland transportation fees” but inland transportation fees turned out to be a scam. The UN had been regulating and restricting the Iraqi government’s access to foreign currency.

The case focused on their knowledge of the scam but were eventually dismissed entirely. Read more about the full case and it’s updates below!
